I came to New York as an artist and had a modicum of success, mostly in Europe. My work slowly shifted from painting large abstract paintings and moved into video, performance and photography. I found that I love to work with and on moving images, creating meaningful narratives. Film and the video arts reach a broader audience and for me as an artist that has always been a priority.
Recently I completed a six week class at The Edit Center to hone my editing skills. At the Edit Center I had the opportunity to work on "The Missing Person" a traditional narrative and on "The Reporter" a documentary.
I grew up in the design and advertising world and have an extensive background in the trade and a passion for typography and good design. One of the reasons I started making video art was often times a good commercial has more content to deliver in 30 seconds than an artist's video in 10 minutes or 2 hours.
The bottom three videos are a mere entrance into my personal work as an artist. "The Event in Ghent" is what I call a mockumentary based on my own most "famous" battle with Jan Hoet, or more my 15 minutes of fame in Belgium. "A Little Less" was an attempt to rescue what seemed like unusable footage from a weekend in NJ. And finally "Joseph Beuys Is Underrated" was my initial claim to fame. The Beuys video has been shown in nearly every country in Western Europe and even broadcast.
All videos were compressed for web using Compressor, which I am adept at and "The Missing Person" was color corrected using Apple's Color App. Another utility I am quite comfortable with.

The Event in Ghent-intro
The performance/boxing match with Jan Hoet, curator and director of S.M.A.K., Belgium's Musuem of contemporary art in May of 1999. This video is a humorous take in documentary style of the pre, during and post fight mash-up.
running time 5min 12sec, entire video is 30mins long
A Little Less
What happens in Wildwood, NJ on a cold spring morning when you've got Elvis on your mind.
running time 3min 31sec
Jospeh Beuys Is Underrated
My very first video, shot in 1993 with an 8mm video camera and edited from camera to another. Talk about archaic technology. My take on Joseph Beuys and the mythmaking of the artworld and a comeback to Beuys performance on German television titled "The Silence of Marcel Duchamp is Overrated". Exhibited throughout the world and in the collection of the Centre GeorgesPompidou in Paris.
running time 2min 51sec
